Colton Mixed Breed (Medium) Adult Male in Shelburne, Vermont

My story

IN NEED OF FOSTER OR ADOPTER / AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT FOR LOCAL ADOPTERS

Meet Colton! Here is his video:

https://youtu.be/4A7s33dIrcA

Colton is 3 years old (approx. DOB 12-10-17), male, 37 lbs., vetted, and is or will be neutered. He is an owner surrender who could not take him when they moved. He is nervous and fearful in new situations and needs a home that is patient for him to build trust and empathetic to his transitioning time. Colton has the cutest smile! He loves women and takes a little more time to trust our male friends but as you can see in his video and pictures with time he does trust men! We are not sure of his past and what he went through but we know his future is bright and his family will find him soon! So far what we have observed is Colton is crate trained, potty trained, has low-medium energy, and loves attention! He bonds very strongly (loves belly rubs) and it will be important for him to be in an experienced home where he feels happy, understood, balanced, and stress free!

His temp foster says: "He is very gentle with play and likes to “hug” you. He is not a kisser but loves to be kissed, belly rubs and butt scratches. He loves being outside, he would be a great walk/hike dog. Seems to love to catch balls so someone that will play with him and teach him to be a dog. He is also just as happy to watch movies or take a nap with you. He does not even try to get on my couch but if I am on the floor with him, he will lay beside me and fall asleep." Stay tuned for more information as Colt is a new rescue!

Disclosure:

Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue.  Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance!

Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed.  Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Colton, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
